November 12 @ 12:00 pm

For many Michigan homeowners, their home represents years of hard work, financial investment, and family memories. But when long-term care becomes necessary, concerns about how to pay for that care can raise difficult questions about what happens to the family home.

Join Estate Planning & Elder Law Services, P.C. for a FREE educational webinar exploring how long-term care costs can affect Michigan homeowners, the role Medicaid may play in paying for care, and why understanding your legal planning options matters.

Ready to learn more? REGISTER HERE to reserve your spot for this complimentary webinar.

We’ll discuss some of the common concerns surrounding homeownership and long-term care, including how a need for nursing home care may affect a family’s finances, why Medicaid rules can complicate decisions about property, and what homeowners should consider before making changes to their estate plans.

We’ll also explore why planning ahead can provide more options than waiting until care is urgently needed, and how estate planning and elder law considerations may intersect when protecting a home becomes a priority.

This webinar is designed for Michigan homeowners, retirees, individuals preparing for future long-term care needs, and adult children helping aging parents navigate financial and legal decisions.

Long-Term Care / Medicaid Planning

Did you know that 50% of people 65 years or older will spend some time in a nursing home and that it costs $8,000 a month for such care? Because neither health insurance nor Medicare covers these costs, losing one’s life savings to such costs is a natural fear.

There have been significant changes to the Medicaid and VA rules. For example, did you know that paying a caregiver can disqualify you from receiving Medicaid benefits? Learn how to avoid the Medicaid “Estate Recovery” law, which seeks repayment from a person’s estate for benefits paid.

Learn about the VA’s proposed look-back period, which causes ineligibility if you make a gift or purchase an annuity within three years of applying for VA benefits.
